From school to work to the community as a whole, limitless numbers of issues and occurances exist.
In Gary, Indiana, a rising concern has been the education provided for students. I've known many people from the city, and unfortunately, many people insult theirself upon speaking as a result of their lack of education. Despite the immorality being taught, the teachers display their lack of affection to students' success. Finally, things are beginning to look a little better as a result of several schools being placed on academic probation as a result of bad test scores for several years. Children and many young adults do not understand the importance of education; however, parents who had the opportunity to see and experience additional attributes of the world have a better understanding of the importance of education. With the government taking a stand, a path is provided to increase parents' awareness of their children's education, providing them with necessary information to make better decisions with their children and care more than "they're supposed to go to school because the government says" about their education and become involved.
From employment experience, I have witnessed a million and one different things from co-workers, and everything in my eyes was either rational or meaningless. I understood being late all the time, complaining about management, and simply feeling the right to take it easy and relax at work while someone else does the work. Then, I became a business owner, and my point of view completely changed; it was an awakening to reality. The biggest issue I have seen as both an employee and employer is an employee's overall performance. I've seen employees basically making their own schedules, disregarding the importance of and respect for customers, and simply punching a time card to sit and do nothing. What employees don't realize is how their performance affects the business as a whole, the business owners, the customers, and even theirselves. The employees lack the compassion for something that isn't theirs; therefore, the business owners and customers are the one's who reap the most consequences of an employee's negligence--leaving them to be the only ones who care.
A major rising societal devastation is violence and crime. Nearly every other day it seems, someone is being pointlessly murdered--for instance, the recent fatal shooting in East Chicago of Drake Morris Jr., a student with a promising basketball career, or a friend of mine that was fatally shot because of the petty assumption of different gang affiliation. So many more devastating stories exist, and the devastation brings communities together. It is not just the loved ones of the victims who care and are affected; the entire community is affected by these and similar incidents--being brought together by the sorrow, the yearning for reform, and fear.
Your first topic is excellent. You must remember that you are going to pick out the problem and then analyse the two opposing sides.
ReplyDeleteThe second might be a little difficult unless you expand it to workers rights or something of that nature.
The third will require you to think of this issues and what are the current ideas to help fix it?
The point of the assignment will be to think of one debatable issue, analyze both viewpoints, and then offer your own personal middle of the road solution.
Also, you will have to do extensive research as well.
Good Job!
Let me know,
